POP3 or IMAP?

  • POP3 (Post Office Protocol Version 3) — used by a e-mail application for downloading messages from a mail server. All e-mails are simply downloaded and is permamently deleted from the server.
  • IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) — used for a synchronization between e-mail application and mail server. All e-mails are stored on the mail server, and e-mail application just checks for any changes, that happen with the mailbox. The protocol synchronizes all data and folder structure. For example, if a user creates a folder via e-mail application, the same folder will be created on the mail server. When working through Webmail, user will see the same as he sees throuh e-mail application and vice versa. But keem in mind, that the synchronization is full, so if a user deletes an e-mail from the e-mail application, it will be deleted from server as well.

E-mail security

  • E-mail password recovery. All passwords are stored encrypted, we're unable to remind them to you, the only we can do is to generate a new one. The only way to change a password via our support service — send us a request using an e-mail address that was used during registration. If you know a password for the cPanel hosting control panel, you may change the password from there.
  • Accessing Webmail. All Webmails support use HTTPS protocol, so it's impossible for other party to read your e-mails.
  • Working with e-mail applications. Our servers support encrypted connections (SSL), are supported both secure mail sending (SMTPS), and secure receiving (POP3S / IMAPS).

SPAM

All newly created e-mail boxes do not filter any spam by default, as it is forbidden by Latvian laws. To activate spam filtering with a powerful «SpamAssassin» tool, please follow the following tutorial:

Please check username and password. Username is always the same as the email address. If you've forgotten the password, you may change it via hosting control panel cPanel.

Problems reading your mail via e-mail application.

  1. Account is suspended. Try to open a website, which hosts your e-mail address. For example, if you have a Janis.Ozols@domens.lv address, then please open a website domens.lv. If the website has opened successfully, continue to the next step, but if you see a message «Account has been suspended» — please pay for hosting. If you haven't received any invoices, but the account is blocked — please contact our support service.
  2. Domain inactive. Please open a website, which hosts your e-mail address. For example, if you have a Janis.Ozols@domens.lv address, then please open a website domens.lv. If you see an error message, that says something like «This page cannot be displayed» or «Server not found», and your e-mail application throws out а «host not found», it means that you have unpaid bills for domains, that are overdue. If the website has opened, please proceed to the next step.
  3. Autorization error. This error looks like this. Please carefully check all settings — username, password, server settings. You can find a step-by-step e-mail application tutorial here. If everything seems to be correct — please proceed to the next step.

This error means, that your ISP has closed 110 port (POP3 protocol), which is required for reading e-mails via e-mail application. If you've determined, that a port is closed — please contact your ISP, and if the port is opened — please contact our support service.
